International Relocation Grant for
Overseas Trained Teachers

Specific criteria for eligiblity for the grant are as follows:

 •  teachers must secure a position before arrival or within three months of their arrival in NZ

 •  teachers must be appointed to a full-time position teaching primary students in a state school, or a half time or more post teaching secondary students in a state school

 •  teachers must have training and qualifications recognised by the NZQA and the NZTC

 •  the grant must be applied for within 8 weeks of commencing employment

 •  teachers must hold a work permit or a residence permit/visa

 •  teachers must be registered and hold a current practising certificate.

Depending on the length of employment, teachers may receive between $NZ 2000 and $NZ 4000.
